How do you get your children to understand when it's time to get up? SIMPLE. "Stay in bed until you see the sun!".
The Gro-clock uses fun images of the stars and sun to communicate when to go back to sleep and when it's time to get up. Due to popular request, the Gro-Clock has a feature allowing parents to choose whether or not to display the digital clock during the usual ‘stars to sun’ countdown. So for older children, they can now start to learn digital time, as well as look for the arrival of the sun!
The Gro-clock also comes with a beautifully illustrated book which helps to encourage children to stay in bed longer, which means more sleep for them and more sleep for you! "No more getting up at 5am!". It is this combination of the simple glowing images and the bedtime story book which has already made the Gro-Clock a phenomenally popular product.

We bought this to try and get my 2.5yo son to understand when it's time to get up. He understood the concept very quickly (blue means sleep, yellow means time to wake up). But in practice he'll come into our room whenever he needs us...maybe when he's a little older, he may stay in his room until it's yellow. It does help at bedtime, part of the routine to turn on the stars. We don't use the nap function (as sadly he no longer has a day sleep!!). It also has the digital time on it which is handy for me. It acts like a nightlight too which gives a nice blue glow to the room! When he starts to learn to tell time, we'll have to buy another clock but then the gro-clock can be used by his little sister.

We bought this clock for our little man, whose natural waking time was between 4:30 and 5:30am. We have been using the clock for nearly a month and he has learned that he must stay in bed until the sun comes up. As it has two time settings, it has helped adapt his natural weekday waking time till around 6am, and on weekends he will stay at least in his room till 7am. It has definitely been a sleep saver for us, his parents. Remarkable!

We purchased this for our 2 year old for Christmas and he is still getting used to it. I am sure it will be great for him (love the idea of some much needed extra sleep), but at the moment may be a bit little. I would guess that by the time he is 3 or 4 he will be able to grasp the concept better (hopefully).
He loves turning the 'stars' on as part of our nightly routine but still tends to come into our room before the 'sun' comes up in the morning!!
I would recommend using it from 3years.

I let my son pick the clock he was going to co-operate with and this is the one we got.
He loves that he knows when he wakes if their is just 1 start it's almost time to get up and if there are more he rolls over and goes back to sleep! Mum's dream!!
I would give it 5 stars except that it has a habit of resetting the light level to 0 everyso often and I'm not sure why. It also took me (a technically savvy person) a couple of weeks to get my head around it's operations. So 1 star off for being a little difficult to master and a little temperamental!

I have got the clock and used it for 2 nights. I have yet to find out how the boy understands it. My boy is turning 2 next week. He sometimes wakes up too early around 5:30. He is enjoying looking at the sun go down and starts come out. Will see how useful it is in times to come.
